lya Kutoboy, an artist at the a—s—t—r—a gallery, became one of the heroes of the collaboration between Befree Co:Create and the illustration agency Bang! Bang! His works seem to transport us to the island of Bali or Thailand. And this is no coincidence. After all, he calls his style tropical primitivism.
Ilya Kutoboy: “Tropical primitivism is snakes overheated in the sun, rustling their seductive scales in shimmering palm trees. The theme of the tropics appeared in my work thanks to my numerous trips to the islands of Asia and Indonesia - the heat and raging vegetation of those places have grown deep inside me.”
