Text for the exhibition "CONFUSED HOLIDAYS"

"Artur Krivoshein's personal exhibition "Confused Holidays" addresses the modern world, where history repeats itself, the way of life and values change, new words appear, and old holidays are replaced by new ones. A society where digital space is a second reality, in which a person spends most of his time. A world where artificial intelligence can connect the incompatible, and logic and the usual course of things are sometimes lost. A series of Artur's works is dedicated to the depiction of this reality. The artist's technique is spontaneous and dynamic, as he works without a sketch. Artur associates this method with the surrealistic concept of "automatism", when a work is created without special preparation, without control, based on an unconscious feeling. The result of the work is initially unknown to the author, finding old books, newspapers, paper of unusual quality, rare various paints and pastels, he makes collages and paints pictures. The avant-garde aspiration to connect art with life, to make it an everyday practice, unintentionally becomes the main line in the artist's work. The works "Frank Division of the Seamy Side", "Project of Settling the Sky", "Juggling with Ellipses" and others are a response to the irrational reality and strive to show "sur", in which the news agenda, personal and common plots, dreams, digital reality and natural motifs are mixed. Fabrics, old photographs, scraps of books from different times and countries, acrylic and oil in Arthur's paintings create multifaceted surreal images. They capture the moment, call to stop in the moment, being "saving points" in the endless surreal game of our life.

The exhibition also features a separate hall with joint paintings by Krivoshein and artist Vlad Maltsev, or more precisely, the art group "2KM". Guided by the principle of "art-life", this series was painted this summer at the dacha in real time. The artists filmed the daily creative process, in which they combined two directions - abstractionism and figurative art. The authors write about what they see around them - it can be "Striped Fog", "Fruit Colonnade" or "Appetizing Takeoff". The proximity to nature, the animal world, summer time pushes the digital world away, allowing you to explore the real and be in the present."
