June 4-5, 2019
The Ritz-Carlton, space Cube Moscow.
In the works of Dima Gred, the chaos of the surrounding world is opposed to patterns. On the one hand, the precise geometry of the figures asserts its uniqueness as a work of art. On the other hand, the simplicity and conciseness of black figures can be seen as the indivisibility of the structure of which it is composed and to which everything around this drawing. But if the pattern is static, indivisible and indestructible, then the environment is subject to constant change. The basis of the work of Dima Gred is a lattice with precise dimensions of 30 × 5 cm, due to the thickness of four bricks with cement and an adhesive tape width of 5 mm. Presented works on paper are performed inside this grid and, thus, reflect the beginning of Gred's practice, consisting in the painting of street walls.
