Grekhova Darina

Darina Grekhova is an artist from Moscow. A cultural critic by training, she has worked in the cultural sphere for several years. In 2022 she enrolled at BVShD and started her artistic practice.

“I am engaged in figurative painting and hand drawing. Before my artistic practice I studied visual culture and art criticism, I was especially interested in modern theories of perception and image theory, which strongly influenced my artistic methodology of work. For me, creating work is a search for a “strong” image as an allegory to something elusive and free to be interpreted. The impetus for the search for figurative expression I most often find in fiction or theoretical literature, somehow it is usually a redefined experience or external event that seems familiar to me for no apparent reason. Such an event reminds me of a displacement in space that I seek to memorize through the creation of visual work.”
