Kanuka Bogdan
A graduate of several programs at the British School of Design.
Having mastered various techniques during his studies, including silkscreen, linocut, monotype and dry needle, Bogdan has maintained the principle of multidisciplinarity in his artistic approach. At the moment he works mainly with graphics and sculpture, however, depending on the idea of the work, he continues to experiment with materials. The diversity of techniques allows Bogdan to build his artistic universe in a multifaceted way. The central image of his works are animal motifs in primitivist style - an allusion to modernity, in which emptiness echoes with madness.
Ceramic installation “Multigrain”:
Bogdan Kaniuk's ceramic object “Multimat / New World” refers the viewer to the Roman sculpture “Capitoline She-Wolf”, tentatively made during the High Middle Ages. The title of the work draws a line under the rooting of the new world: against the background of 130 pink ceramic creatures crawling towards the source of life, the figure of a mother in contrast - as a frozen compromise between humility before the present and the desire to return to the inner self.
