Kostina Kira
In her artistic practice, Kira reflects on modern man, searching for his place between civilization and nature. Her works are a visual exploration of their interpenetration, their interdependence, and the succession of transformations.
The medium in which I work is clay—porcelain and ceramics. I use plaster casting techniques and hand sculpting. Casting allows for a particular subtlety and detail, while sculpting allows for freedom in composition.
Borrowing existing textures and forms from flora and fauna, sometimes adding fragments of the human body, I combine them into a paradoxical, surreal form. The result is a synthesis that transforms the refinement and detachment of porcelain into the untamed wildness of nature, testifying to the fact that every element of this world is interconnected and interdependent in creating the endless symphony of life.
